Two newly developed V8 engines headline the powertrain changes for the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Chevrolet is replacing the outgoing 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 options with next-generation 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines designed to provide increased output and capability. Both engines will be assembled at General Motors facilities in Michigan.

The Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six will remain part of the lineup for drivers interested in diesel efficiency, towing range, and low-end torque. Every part of the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 exterior has been reworked, giving the truck a wider and more assertive appearance. Updates include a stronger front-end design, prominent wheel-arch treatments, and trim-specific lighting signatures. Dual exhaust outlets will be standard beginning with the Custom trim.

Chevrolet will also distinguish each of the seven trims with unique exterior details. The lineup ranges from the straightforward, job-focused Work Truck to the redesigned ZR2, which Chevrolet says will be the most capable off-road ZR2 offered to date. Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, and ZR2 configurations provide three factory-lifted choices for shoppers seeking additional trail capability and a more rugged stance.

A new 16.3-inch infotainment touchscreen serves as the centerpiece of the redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cabin. It is joined by a standard 12.2-inch Driver Information Center, creating a larger digital interface for vehicle settings, navigation, media, and driving information. Chevrolet will also offer an 11.5-inch front-passenger display that allows the passenger to access compatible functions separately from the driver.

Super Cruise availability will expand to additional Silverado trims, and compatible models will offer hands-free driving while towing. Other available technologies include an upgraded trailering application, high-definition surround-view cameras, and over-the-air software updates that can introduce improvements without a dealership visit.

Chevrolet expects the redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to reach the market in late 2026. Production will take place at GM full-size truck assembly facilities located in North America.
