The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is powered by a 1.2L turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. While those numbers may sound modest, the torque comes in at low RPMs, which helps the Trax feel responsive during city driving and highway merging. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering smooth shifts and predictable performance for daily use.

Fuel efficiency is another highlight of the Trax. Chevrolet rates it at an EPA-estimated 28 MPG city and 32 MPG highway, making it a smart choice for drivers who want to spend less time at the pump. The Trax is front-wheel drive only, which helps keep weight down and contributes to its efficiency-focused design.
